Two days after the explosions near the finish line of the Boston Marathon, investigations continue across the city of Boston.

FBI investigators and local police are combing through trash around the crime scene, still searching for a suspect or suspects.

Reports emerged on Wednesday morning that a suspect was in custody, but the Boston Police Department said in the early afternoon that those reports are false.

“Despite reports to the contrary, there has not been an arrest in the Marathon attack,” the department said through its Twitter account.

The FBI also said that there has been no arrest made.

“Over the past day and a half, there have been a number of press reports based on information from unofficial sources that has been inaccurate,” the FBI’s statement reads. “Since these stories often have unintended consequences, we ask the media, particularly at this early stage of the investigation, to exercise caution and attempt to verify information through appropriate official channels before reporting.”

People in Boston have been stopping by a makeshift memorial, leaving flowers and pausing to contemplate the victims of the tragedy.
